Fat Injection

USE:
In the treatment of facial lines; e.g., frown lines, nasolabial lines, and perioral lines, lip augmentation, scars & facial rejuvenation.

ACTION:
Fat cells transferred heal as a graft and would be expected to provide a long lasting correction for up to 10 years.

PROCEDURE:
Under local anaesthetic with or with-out sedation. Both the area to be treated and the area to be used to harvest the fat, usually the hip area or abdomen, are anaesthetized.
Fat is aspirated and washed in saline to remove damaged fat cells prior to injection into the area to be treated. Multiple injections are required to achieve the desired result. A second course of fat injections may be required after about 3 months.

TREATMENT:
Hospital day case or Clinic procedure.

EFFECTS:
Pain Mild burning sensation with injection.
Bruising Minimal bruising may occur.
Swelling Mild swelling of the treated area for approximately 2 weeks.
Infection Rare, antibiotics given for 5 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Allergies to local anaesthetic
